Laboratory Research Notebook
Laboratory Research Notebook
A laboratory research notebook is important for keeping a complete records of an experiment conducted. Imagine having to remember all the steps of an experiment from scratch. It would be a very taxing task to try to recall all the mixtures, or the speed at which you performed a physics experiment. These daunting task of recall is answered by a laboratory research notebook.
Here are some things to consider when getting a laboratory research notebook:
- Functionality. Will the notebook be easy to rip? Will the pages fall apart, say two months after using the notebook? Will it be able to “handle” the data without it being too used-up? Remember that the function of a research notebook is on its storage. The aim is to get a complete record of the experiment. As this encourages more thinking from the scientist, and also helps preserve the variables in the experiment for future reference. There are also laboratory research notebook which provide a carbon page which duplicates the original research. The carbon copy function is perfect for all those written entries.
- Dimension. This might also be included in functionality, but it deserves its individual discussion. A small laboratory research notebook may be good for tugging it around the field for field research and experimentation but it will serve as a hassle when you have to write down longer formulas or longer written entries. A large notebook may be good for sticking photocopied materials such as pies and charts. Again, the dimension must be considered before buying a laboratory research notebook.
- The Price. While some may want to get a more presentable albeit very expensive notebooks, there are some which will ultimately go for cheaper lab research notebooks which very well serves its purpose. Of course, one must consider the price of the item before buying it. But if money is not an option, there are lab research notebooks which have very expensive and nicer paper.
